About Embassy

Diplomatic relations between the USSR and the Republic of Korea were established on September 30, 1990. The first Russian diplomatic mission was housed in a rented office at the World Trade Center in Samseong-dong district of Seoul. The Russian diplomats later moved to a separate building in the same area.

In 2002, the opening ceremony of the new complex of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Korea took place, which is now located in the historic district of Chondong (Seoul) not far from the place where the old Russian diplomatic mission was located in the 19th-20th centuries (only the bell tower of the old building has survived the devastating Korean War).

The complex of the Russian Embassy consists of a main building, apartment building and a building of the consular department.

On the first floor of the Embassy there is a Marble Hall, where official receptions are usually held, including those on the occasion of the national holiday – the Day of Russia. In good weather, doors leading from Marble Hall to a cozy lawn open for the guests of the Embassy.
